CRAWLERS

The Challenge

Crawlers supplies beautifully handcrafted leather shoes for infants and toddlers. The leather is sourced from local suppliers. Leather provides a soft and comfortable environment for feet to grow naturally while still being protected. Each pair is made with care and love.

As Crawlers is situated on Avalon Farms they wanted to embrace the wholesome lifestyle that is homesteading in the desert. They also wanted to bring across a little bit of whimsy. Working with children creates a sense of fun and joy so it was important that the branding reflected wholesome ideals that celebrate the feeling of hope that a new member of the family brings. And so we began helping Crawlers build their story.

The Approach

Since Crawlers is about artisanal and handcrafted items we started our approach with the story. Taking the time to really understand the driving goals behind Crawlers.

We had the opportunity to visit the farm and see how these awesome shoes are created. This gave us a great deal of insight into what the brand represents. In the end, we wanted to create a logo that symbolized the playful nature of children, a brand that is for infants and toddlers and focused on shoes. This meant that the colour had to simple and reminiscent of crayons and clay or playdough. Which was ideal for creating the stop-motion bumper. The typography also needed to fit within a style that would feel just like playing with crayons as a child. The logo is all of these things and more since it is diverse and draws attention.

On our visit to the farm, we spent some time on photos of the shoes and the farm. We used these for various social media as well as the website build.

The website needed to showcase the shoes of course. Though it also needed to bring a little of the people behind crawlers. Showing a glimpse into their journey and the lifestyle they have chosen.

This took some research, and honestly, visiting the area to really know what a special place it is. A harsh environment with few people around and just a spectacular landscape. Bringing these elements into the website assisted in completing the story of Crawlers.

After a while Crawlers came back to us requesting something a little out of our field. A stop-motion bumper of their logo. Seeing as the feel of the logo was clay or playdough that is exactly where we started. After some hours of moulding and practicing, we set off to make a stop-motion bumper video.

We set up the rig and mini studio. Moulding and moving the clay every so slightly for each shot. Over 2 days we had the images we needed then another 2 days of editing. The last step required us to work with a dear friend, Benjie, who created the jingle to accompany the stop-motion video bumper.

We had a lot of fun doing this project and we believe that Crawlers has been happy with what we have delivered.

The Result

We provided a whimsical logo that feels unique and catches the eye. The website style is simple and showcases the incredible lifestyle they lead out in the desert. The final item being an awesome stop-motion video bumper that just makes you smile.
